Homesick

Sunday was rough. I am missing my family and animals and my boyfriend. Every time I open something with a crinkly plastic bag in the room, I expect to hear Pecha squeak (she thinks plastic bags crinkling or the sound the fridge makes when it opens means she is getting food) but, for obvious reasons, I don't. I think I am still recovering from jet lag and being up for more than 24 hours when I was traveling here.
We took a train to Tokyo around 11:30am:
We took a train to Tokyo around 11:30am:
We got off at Harajuku (a district in Shibuya, Tokyo) and walked around for a bit. We saw a duck on a leash... not sure what else to say about that one so here are the pictures:
Right by the train station was Meiji Jingu. We walked around in the forested park and temple for a while:
Selfies on my DSLR. The rotatable screen on my 5000 comes in handy!
While at the temple we witnessed a wedding, which is apparently a rare sighting since it is so expensive to have it conducted at this specific location.
After the temple we visited a public park where there were thousands of people picnicking, swimming, and watching street performers.
While looking for a place to eat, we crossed the busiest intersection in Tokyo: Shibuya Crossing! I took these photos when it was starting to clear up... there were easily twice as many people at its peak.
I ended up leaving Tokyo early and rode the train back by myself. The trains are very easy to navigate, even for me not speaking or being able to read Japanese. Once back in Kawagoe I shopped around the mall at the train station a bit. I found some more sticky notes to add to my collection! Also, these cute little spherical candies with neat packaging. Kawaii!!
The rest of the night was spent by myself which I was quite happy with; sometimes you just need to take care of yourself. I have been going to bed early and waking early as well, which gives me time to work on my blog but then I think I run out of energy earlier in the day. I am going to try staying up a little longer so I can sleep later in the morning!
For now,
アナ
