Kalmar to Simrishamn
Drove for most of the day yesterday but did make quite a few stops along the way (Kalmar to Simrishamn). Stopped by one last glass shop before finally leaving glass country. I didn't need any cups, plates or candle holders, but figured some sort of souvenir would be nice since we spent so much time in that area. I ended up buying a small glass duck, only 5kr, and Emily decided on a fish & a duck as well.
Visited Karlskrona, a UNESCO world heritage site for its naval architecture. This is part of the city square where we stopped for lunch.
Part of the old church in the same city we ate lunch in.
Later down the road. Where we think the Lundgrens originally came from before moving to Halmstad.
One example of the window gardens. This one is a little different, it is a window into an art studio. There was one or two plants and then this funny piece of wood they made into a person. Very creative! The work inside was great too, though I couldn't see much.
The colours on the buildings here are beautiful. Blue, green, pink, yellow, and burnt orange.
Everyone has such lovely gardens and makes the best of a small space. Even small backyards in the city have gardens!
Outside the church at sundown.
Had to tickle her to get a nice smile out of her.
Carl Milles (or rather, his pieces) are all over it seems. After Millesgarden I have recognized three or four in two separate locations (beside Millesgarden).
Original Edison phonograph
Even the dividing lines and symbols are made out of stone (no painting!) on the old cobblestone streets. I absolutely love the rustic feel from all the old brick and stone.
Roses on Storgatan
Somebody knitted a bunch of... somethings... and put them on street signs ad poles around town.
Beautiful sunset, looking through the harbor.
Terrific pics, Anna!
