T Minus Två Hours
It's hard to even imagine that in less than 24 hours I'll be immersed in a whole new world. New people, new language, new culture... it's going to be extraordinary.
About a day ago I woke up at 3:00 (yes, AM) to catch a flight to Jersey with my sister. Spent some time with family, swam quite a bit, and barely a day later we're putting suitcases back in the car and heading off to Sweden. Above all the museets and shopping, I am most excited to be surrounded by all my heritage and ancestry. Packing is not the only thing I've been doing in preparation and anticipation for this trip. I've talked to my wonderful cousins, whom I will meet for the first time in only a few days, and also caught up on ancestry dating even farther back than the Kalmar Union. I've discovered that I am a 19th cousin to Prince Harry and William (my invitation to Williams's wedding must have gotten lost in the mail...), as well as a direct descendant of Danish royalty. I'm bringing along my DSLR so I'll be updating this blog daily, with pictures. More for my own use, so when I get back to the US I can scrapbook and have running timeline of what I did everyday, but also for my parents who are still in Oregon. Thanks for the idea daddy! And happy fathers day to the most wonderful dad I could ever wish for! (: Goodbye for now and adjö!
