Arrival
The Stockholm archipelago supposedly consists of over 3,000 islands, of which Emily and I had the pleasure of visiting a few today (Gamlastan, Sodermalm, and Skeppsholmen). Our plane arrived at about 7:00 and after we finally found the hotel we dumped our bags and just roamed around the city. We took a boat tour around the city, as well as exploring by ourselves on foot. About an hour before closing we arrived at the Vasamuseet, there are a few pictures down below. The lighting was terrible there however, so the shots didn't turn out as good as I had hoped.
The hotel building dates back into the 1700s. It started out as a brewery, then a hospital, a prison, and now, a charming hotel. The windows are six feet tall and open like the window's of the room that Lena (yes, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) stays in while in Greece. The lights don't work as one would expect but it's light outside pretty much until midnight so it's not much of a bother. All the buildings were originally built out of wood but they're mostly all gone from fires. Now they're all brick and (concrete?) and painted beautiful hues of brown, yellow, coral, and orange. I posted a few pictures of some of the gorgeous architecture over here. Emily is bugging me to get off the computer, so I guess my blabber-time is over. Excuse the poor quality of the photos, I didn't even bother cropping any of them. Tomorrow we will be going to the Fotografiska, Moderna Museet, and Milesgoten. God natt!
